2025 Santa House Visits - Dec 5th, 6th

Santa brought fresh snow from the North Pole this past weekend and unfortunately, OLPH chorus was unable to perform Friday evening due to events being canceled for Howard County Public Schools! We look forward to having them back next year.

Saturday was a musical day all the same with a lively performance by the Catonsville High School Steel Drum Band. Their performance included a variety of music, accompanied by choreographed dance moves. The crowd couldn't help but dance themselves!

Mount de Sales Academy choir rounded out the day with carols for the visitors waiting in line. The ladies sang the classics and even took a crowd request for Do You Want to Build a Snowman? which they sang beautifully with no rehearsal!

Thank you so much to CHS and MDS. The teens bring such a lively atmosphere to our Santa visits and we appreciate them spending a cold Saturday afternoon entertaining our visitors with smiles on their faces! We look forward to welcoming a few of our beloved teachers from Hillcrest Elementary School this Friday evening as they read holiday stories and are happy to welcome back Tears for Devere Saturday afternoon, whom we were so grateful opened our tree lighting ceremony this year!

All donations made to the Catonsville Santa House support our mission to bring holiday magic to the neighborhood. This fundraiser will directly support the future purchase and planting of a beautiful new Catonsville Christmas tree to brighten our community for seasons to come. Catonsville's Annual Tree Lighting

Saturday November 29th 2025 - Schedule of Events

The Catonsville Santa House Committee, a part of the CMCA, is excited to present one of its most cherished traditions: The Annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Santa's arrival to town!

This festive event marks the official start of the holiday season in Catonsville and promises an evening filled with lights, music, community, and cheer!

The festivities will begin at 5:45pm on Saturday November 29th. Enjoy hot chocolate and cookies while Tears for Devere and The Palovations put on festive performances. Then get ready for the bright lights to shine as the tree is lit and Santa arrives, escorted in style, by the Catonsville Fire Department.

This beloved, annual event is FREE and open to residents and visitors alike so please come celebrate with us!

After the Tree Lighting, Santa will be receiving visitors at the Santa House every Friday and Saturday in December leading up to Christmas. We have even more entertainment and fun in store, so check out the schedule of events and plan your visit with Santa!

The Tree Lighting takes place around and in front of the Catonsville Fire Department at the intersection of Frederick Rd., Egges Ln., and Mellor Ave. Please note that sections of Frederick Rd. will be closed to vehicle traffic to accommodate the event and crowds. You can park along the open sections of Frederick Rd. or along Mellor Ave.

Santa Visits

Santa will be coming to town Friday evenings from 6-8 pm and Saturday afternoons from 2-4 pm throughout the month of December. Entertainment has been planned for most of the visits. The Santa House Committee would like to thank the local talent that have volunteered their time. Please come out and support them. Christmas Tree Lighting & Santa's Arrival 2024

Join us on November 30th 2024 for the Catonsville Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Catonsville Santa House, next door to the fire station!

The Catonsville Santa House Committee is excited to announce that we are just over a week away from the Catonsville Tree Lighting and Santa Claus’ arrival in Catonsville! This beloved annual event will take place on Saturday, November 30th, with festivities beginning at 5:45 p.m.

The evening will kick off with a performance by the Heart of Maryland Holiday Chorus, followed by the Motown singing sensations, The Palovations. Guests can enjoy complimentary hot chocolate provided by Jennings and free cookies in front of the fire station.

Santa is expected to arrive on a fire truck just before 7 p.m. After his grand entrance, visitors are invited to walk through the Santa House to greet him and be sure to come back for a visit Friday evenings or Saturday afternoons throughout the month of December for a proper sit down and photo opportunity. We will have entertainment with carolers, The CHS Steel Drum Band, local teachers reading holiday stories and a scavenger hunt to keep you busy if there is a wait.

Please note: Due to the statewide burn ban currently in effect throughout Maryland, the fire marshal has determined it is unsafe to hold the traditional fireworks display this year. We hope to revisit this feature in the future, but the safety of our guests is always our top priority.

Christmas Tree Decorating 2024

Thank you to the CMCA and Anytime Electrical Services for coming out on Saturday November 16th to decorate the Catonsville Christmas tree.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the Tree Lighting on Saturday November 30th! The festivities begin at 5:45pm and Santa will arrive around 7:00pm.
